We always thought that Friday 13th was meant to be unlucky, but lucky us indeed that Netflix dropped some of the seventh (and sadly last) season of Grace and Frankie last week.

The streaming platform released only the first four episodes while the rest of the series is finished after being delayed due to the pandemic (shock, horror!).

The show will see the conclusion to Grace and Frankie’s story, as well as that of Robert and Sol and their families.

“There’s plenty more to come”

Grace and Frankie has seen the titular characters go from frenemies to best friends, start new businesses, and negotiate new relationships, with stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin in the lead roles. Martin Sheen and Sam Warburton play their gay ex-husbands, Robert and Sol.

In a promotional video for the new series fronted by Fonda and Tomlin, the latter says: “We’ve missed you, but more importantly, you’ve missed us.”

Fonda adds: “So we’re here to announce… ”

However, true to her excitable character, Tomlin interrupts and demands that Fonda tell us the news, which ends up being about the four-episode drop.

Not one to leave us hanging, Fonda assures us that there’s “plenty more to come. We just wanted to give you something special until we finish the rest of the season.”

And again, true to form, Tomlin brings up her character’s love for the fast-food chain Del Taco by saying it was either the announcement we got or gift cards, adding: “I wanted to go with the gift cards.”

We appreciate the gesture, but we’ll take the episodes and we’ll pick up a UK Del Taco alternative on the way home!

Production has resumed on the last 12 episodes, which will see the show become Netflix’s longest-running original series.

At the end of Season 6, Grace’s new partner Nick Skolka (Peter Gallagher) was arrested and taken into custody. Robert and Sol become homeless due to one of Frankie’s wacky inventions and all four main characters returned to the beach house.
