Neighbours to make history with first same-sex marriage proposal

David Tanaka pops the question while dressed as cupid

By Fabio Crispim

Neighbours will make history by featuring its first ever same-sex marriage proposal.

The scene will air next week on Channel 5, and will see David Tanaka (Takaya Honda) pop the question in the most unusual way.

David, feeling bad for turning down Aaron’s offer to move in, decideds to prove his love by proposing to Aaron while dressed as cupid, complete with feathery wings and a bow and arrow.

However images from the episode show a horrified Aaron Brennan (Matt Wilson) looking on.

David’s proposal comes at the wrong time however, as Aaron is dealing with some serious family drama involving his brother who confessed to killing his biological father.

And if that isn’t enough, Aaron spent some time with his ex Rory and though nothing happened between the pair, he kept it a secret from David.

Will he say yes? Something tells us it might be a ‘No’.

The episode comes just weeks after Australia officially legalised same-sex marriage following the country’s controversial postal vote.

Neighbours returns to Channel 5 on January 5 at 1.45pm and 5.30pm.
