Matt Bomer loves that his ‘Doom Patrol’ character’s sexuality isn’t the ‘sole thing that defines him’

Matt Bomer loves how his Doom Patrol character’s sexuality isn’t the ‘sole thing that defines who he is’.
The actor had a cameo as Larry Trainor aka Negative Man in the DC Universe series Titans and a spin-off show about the group of comic book characters known as Doom Patrol was announced soon after.
Bomer – who is openly gay himself – stars as the former ace pilot who led a double life as closeted homosexual with a lover on the airbase and a wife and two sons back at home.
However, following an accident he was left terribly scarred and forced to be covered in bandages.
The accident made him lose both of his lives but he was left a strange superpower: the ability to release a negatively charged energy being from his body; the being.
During a special screening for the third episode of the series, Bomer said he loves that his character – which he mainly voices when the character appears bandaged up – is “multifaceted”.
He said: “I’d never really seen a gay male superhero and what I love most about the character is that even though it’s a huge struggle internally for him, it’s not the sole thing that defines who he is, he’s such a multifaceted character, if it was just one stereotypical aspect of him I would have had reservations about it.”
