Mark Ronson apologises for ‘coming out’ as sapiosexual
“I do not consider myself part of any marginalised community."

Mark Ronson has apologised after appearing to ‘come out’ as sapiosexual.
The DJ and producer, 44, generated international headlines after saying he identified with the term describing people who are attracted to intellect rather than gender during an appearance on Good Morning Britain earlier this month.
During a segment on those who identify as sapiosexual, Ronson was asked whether he was attracted to intelligence.
The ‘Find U Again’ hitmaker replied: “Yeah, I didn’t know that there was a word for it.
“We were all arguing backstage in the dressing room with a couple of your producers. And yes, I feel like I am identifying as sapiosexual.”
Now, Ronson has backtracked on the comment, telling Rolling Stone that does not consider himself “part of any marginalised community” and that he feels ’embarrassed’ by the misunderstanding.
“I do not consider myself part of any marginalised community and I apologise if anybody misunderstood or took offence to it,” he said.
Recalling the exchange on GMB, he said: “They were basically like, ‘OK, Mark Ronson identifies himself as sapiosexual, that’s great’. And I was like, ‘Oh, okay’, and that was it.
“Then I got back to the hotel about two hours later and I saw this thing that said, ‘Mark Ronson outs himself as sapiosexual’. It sounds like I went on a TV show to be like, ‘Guys, I have some big news!’
“And the fact that I would go on and sort of declare myself – like as a heterosexual white male – part of any marginalised community was terrifying to me, or just embarrassing.”
