Love, Victor is finally coming to the UK on Disney+

The Love, Simon TV spin-off will air on the service's new channel for 'mature' content.

Six months after it first premiered in the US, the first season of Love, Victor will soon be available to stream in the UK on Disney+.

The TV spin-off of 2018’s gay teen drama Love, Simon recaptured the wholesome, heartfelt magic of the original film as it charted the journey of high school student Victor (played by Michael Cimino) as he came to terms with his sexuality – and even nabbed a spot in our round-up of the best LGBTQ TV shows of 2020.

Now, UK viewers will be able to stream all 10 episodes when the series arrives on Disney+ on 23 February, Deadline reports.

Love, Victor was originally set to air on Disney+ in the US before being bumped to sister network Hulu over its supposed ‘mature’ themes – a move which sparked concern that LGBTQ content was effectively being censored from Disney+.

However, the move was defended by Love, Simon‘s original author Becky Albertalli, who insisted the decision had been motivated by scenes of underage drinking rather than same-sex kisses.

On the UK edition of Disney+, Love, Victor will be hosted by the streaming service’s new Stars brand, which Deadline describes as Disney’s “new international online home for ‘mature’ content with additional parental controls”.

Love, Victor – which was given a TV-14 rating, indicating content which may be unsuitable for children under the age of 14 – will make its debut on the service alongside adult dramas including 24, Lost, Desperate Housewives and Prison Break.
