Listen: Sia debuts new single originally written for Adele, ‘Alive’

UPDATE: The full thing’s here! Give Alive a listen in full below:

Sia has given fans their first snippet of her brand new single Alive – a song which she reportedly sings through the eyes of the one and only Adele.

The track is the first to be lifted from Sia’s upcoming seventh album This is Acting, which sees the camera-shy Aussie chanteuse record tracks she originally wrote for other artists.

“It’s about Adele’s life, so I now sing a song from Adele’s perspective,” said the 39-year-old, who has previously penned songs for artists like Britney, Beyonce and Rihanna.

“This is the first song from this new project. I’m calling it This Is Acting because they are songs I was writing for other people, so I didn’t go into it thinking, ‘This is something I would say’. It’s more like play-acting. It’s fun.”

Alive will be the first single to be lifted from Sia’s upcoming seventh studio album This is Acting, which is expected to be released later this year.

The album will serve as the follow-up to 2014’s 1000 Forms of Fear, which spawned hit singles Chandelier and Elastic Heart.
