Lil Nas X addresses similarities between his ‘Montero’ vid and FKA Twigs’ for ‘Cellophane’

Lil Nas X has addressed the similarities between his video for new single ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ and FKA Twigs’ for 2016 single ‘Cellophane.’
The star released the big-budget clip – featuring him falling from heaven and giving Satan a lap dance – last week.
However, fans were quick to notice that footage of LNX pole dancing down to hell closely resembled a sequence in Twigs’ visual.

Sharing a clip of Twigs’ video on Instagram yesterday, Lil Nas said in a caption: “i want to show love to @fkatwigs & @andrewthomashuang ! the ‘cellophane’ visual is a masterpiece.i want to say thank u to twigs for calling me and informing me about the similarities between the two videos, as i was not aware they were so close.
“was only excited for the video to come out. i understand how hard you worked to bring this visual to life.
“you deserve so much more love and praise. [Sic]”

Proving there are no hard feelings between the pair, Twigs has also addressed the situation on Insta.
She said yesterday: “Thank you @lilnasx for our gentle honest conversations and for acknowledging the inspiration cellophane gave you and your creative team in creating your iconic video!

The news is the latest in a busy week for Nas, which has seen ‘Montero (Call Me By Your Name)’ rise to the number two spot on Spotify’s top 50 global chart, while attracting criticism from religious conservatives for the video’s Biblical imagery.
He also made headlines after it emerged Nike was to sue company MSCHF for collaborating with the star on 666 pairs of customised, Satan-themed trainers each containing a drop of human blood in the sole.
