Lee Ryan will appear in court next month (May) after being arrested on suspicion of drink-driving – and being charged with two other offences.

The Blue singer was arrested in the early hours of Friday morning (April 11), the BBC reports reports, after police pulled him over in West London for allegedly driving his Range Rover erratically.

The 33-year-old was then taken into custody and charged with failing to provide a specimen and criminal damage. He was released on bail for the other charges.

A spokesperson for the singer confirmed to Digital Spy that “a controlled substance was found in [Ryan’s] possession”.

Ryan’s spokesperson continued: “No excuses will be made on Lee’s behalf, but he will be seeking professional help for those issues that he has been unable to overcome on his own.”

Meanwhile, a representative for London’s Metropolitan Police has said that Ryan is due to appear in court on May 2.

Earlier this week (April 9), Ryan took to Twitter to discuss recent claims by his ex-girlfriend Jasmine Waltz that he is gay.

He wrote: “I don’t care if people think I’m gay, why would I care? I would be proud. Sexuality doesn’t need to be defended or justified.”
