Lance Bass says it’s ‘incredible’ how Lil Nas X was accepted after coming out.
The ‘Old Town Road’ rapper came out at the end of Pride month this year and has gone on to be one of the most celebrated artists and after coming out, he still managed to keep the Number One stop for a record-breaking length of time.
During the VMAs, the rapper took home the Song of the Year award and now Bass – who came out in 2006 four years after *NSYNC went on permanent hiatus – said Lil Nas X coming out was ‘very ballsy’ but said the reaction has been incredible.

While on the red carpet of the awards, Bass told GLAAD: “It’s incredible, I’ve been coming to the VMAS since ’99 and you have seen evolution.
“Music has been so amazing to embrace so many different types of people, especially the LGBT+ community [which] is being really represented now and that’s only happened in the last handful of years.
“For someone to come out in the hip-hop industry – it’s very ballsy.
“The way he was accepted was incredible, from country music and the hip-hop world, that’s ballsy and they both accepted him.”
