Lady Gaga ushers in a brand new era with comeback single ‘Perfect Illusion’ – LISTEN

By Will Stroude

In the 1037 days that have elapsed since the release of 2013’s Artpop, Lady Gaga has won a Grammy for her Tony Bennet jazz collaboration Cheek to Cheek, won an Emmy for her role as The Countess on Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story, and won plaudits for her live performance tributes to everything from the Sound of Music to the late David Bowie.

Three years later, and a very different Mother Monster is finally making her return to pop proper with brand new single ‘Perfect Illusion’, which was released this morning (September 9) following weeks of anticipation.

Produced by Mark Ronson, Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and BloodPop, who’s worked on the likes of Justin Bieber’s ‘Sorry’, the track marks another bold reinvention for Gaga, with churning guitars ushering in an urgent three minutes of pulsing disco-rock which see Gaga’s huge vocals take centre stage.

‘Perfect Illusion’ serves as the lead single from upcoming fifth studio album, and one thing’s for sure, we can’t wait to see what the next chapter holds.

‘Perfect Illusion’ is out now. Listen below:
