Kim Kardashian discusses family effect of Bruce’s transition

By Will Stroude

Kim Kardashian has opened up about her stepfather Bruce Jenner’s gender transition, saying it “breaks her heart” that her mother Kris is questioning memories of her marriage to the Olympic star.

The 34-year-old made the comments as she live-tweeted the first part of E!’s Keeping Up with the Kardashians: About Bruce special last night (May 18), which documented the reality TV clan’s reaction to the news that Bruce is transgender, adding that she was “happy we opened up and shared out journey”.

After years of speculation, Bruce came out as transgender in an emotional interview with ABC’s Diana Sawyer last month (April), adding that Kim had become his most trusted confidante in the family since revealing the news to them.

Last night’s About Bruce special on E! saw the 65-year-old track and field star tell his daughters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, and stepdaughters Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian, that ‘Bruce’ would no longer exist by spring, and that we would finish transitioning “within the next four to five months.”

Jenner explained that he recently underwent surgery on his nose and had an upper lip lift, and that further procedure on his forehead and jaw had been scheduled to take place.

The episode also saw Kendall admit that she once caught her father dressed as a woman in the family home while everyone was asleep.

The 19-year-old explained: “I woke up to get water… came to the kitchen – thank God he turned right because we would have bumped into each other. I just feel bad. If that’s really what makes you happy that you have to sneak around at 4am because you didn’t want to scare me and Kylie.”

While a host of celebrities have lined up to support Bruce since he came out, Kim’s ex-husband Kris Humphries was recently forced to apologise after tweeting that he was glad he “got out” the family when he did.

The second installment of Keeping Up With the Kardashians: About Bruce, will air in the US tonight (May 18) at 9pm on E!
