Netflix has officially renewed House of Cards for a third season.
The acclaimed US drama, which stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright as a political power couple operating in Washington DC, is an adaptation of the 1990 BBC miniseries of the same name.
The first season comprising 13 episodes premiered on Netflix on February 1, 2013 – and a second season comprising another 13 episodes is set to debut on the global streaming service in ten days’ time on February 14.
Production on season three is due to begin soon, notes The Hollywood Reporter, but further details about season three are currently unknown.
House of Cards is one of several original series that Netflix has commissioned over the last couple of years, with Orange Is The New Black, Hemlock Grove and a revival of cult sitcom Arrested Development also proving popular with viewers and TV critics.
