Kevin Spacey’s ‘House of Cards’ character unceremoniously killed off in first teaser for final season – WATCH

House of Cards has revealed the fate of Kevin Spacey’s character Frank Underwood in the first teaser trailer for the political drama’s sixth and final season.
A teaser trailer released on Wednesday (5 September) shows Robin Wright’s character Claire Underwood, who usurped Frank’s position as President of the United States during the season five finale, standing over Frank’s grave.
Shooting a look directly to camera, she says: “I’ll tell you this though, Francis. When they bury me it won’t be in my backyard. And when they pay their respects they’ll have to wait in line.”
The camera then pans away to reveal Frank’s grave next to that of his late father.
Spacey, 59, was fired from House of Cards during filming of the show’s final season late last year following a series of sexual misconduct allegations, which began when former Star Trek actor Anthony Rapp accused the Oscar-winner of sexually assaulting him in the late ’80s when he was just 14.
Spacey released a statement apologising but claiming he did not remember the incident. He was widely critiicised for also using the same statement to come out publicly following years of specualtion surrounding his sexuality.
An outpouring of allegations against the American Beauty star quickly followed, with several current and former members of the House of Cards crew also coming forward to accuse the show’s lead of sexual assault.
Netflix later confirmed that Spacey had been axed from House of Cards with immediate effect, causing producers to rewrite a shortened, eight-episode final season of the show with Robin Wright in the lead.
House of Cards Spacey-free final season will premiere on Netflix on 2 November. Check out the teaser trailer below:
