Kelly Rowland thinks straight people should tell their partners about ‘past gay experiences’

By Fabio Crispim

Former Destiny’s Child lead singer Kelly Rowland has said people should ask their partners if they’ve had “gay experiences” in the past.

The comments were made while the 35-year-old promoted her upcoming movie Love By The 10th Date, which deals with themes of celibacy, open marriage and bisexuality.

Speaking to the New York Post, she said, “There are some women who are not finding the real truth about their partner’s sexuality until they go through their man’s phones.”

“But it happens with guys too, not just women. I can’t tell someone how to feel about dating someone who is bisexual or had a gay past experience, but it’s proper to ask in today’s times.”

She then revealed her thoughts on open marriages, saying she feels she isn’t “in any position to judge”.

“None of my girlfriends that I know of have open relationships. I just feel like I’m not in any position to judge anybody. We’re in a new time and space where sexuality should be talked about – whether you want to be with two people or three.”

Rowland’s Lifetime movie Love By The 10th Date premieres tonight (January 28).
