Jonathon Groff reveals Looking’s Murray Bartlett is a ‘great kisser’

By Fabio Crispim

Looking: The Movie premiered

at the Frameline Film Festival in San Francisco over the weekend, and during the events Jonathon Groff shared the happy news that Murray Bartlett, who plays Dom, is a “great kisser”.

According to Broadway World, Groff joked that “When they were writing the movie, I said, ‘I want to make out with Murray, Russell and Paul.’ The rest of the movie was just filled in from there.”

When asked about the surprise romantic scenes between Patrick and Dom, Groff said “It was fun. [Murray’s] a great kisser.”

But Bartlett took a more serious approach to the question, saying: “This chapter really showcased the rich friendship between Dom and Patrick, and how it started. It was an incredible intimate scene between friends that can exist in the gay community. it was a beautiful celebration of that.”

Andrew Haigh, the director of the film, also joked and added that they were “very excited to make out with each other.”

Looking: The Movie will serve as the finale for the HBO series, which was cancelled after just two seasons – but show star Daniel Franzese, who plays Eddie, is already hoping for a follow-up.

The feature-length finale sees Patrick (Jonathan Groff) return to San Francisco after almost a year away for a wedding (we’re left guessing as to exactly who is tying the knot), where he finally begins to work through his baggage as he encounters former lovers Richie (Raúl Castillo) and Kevin (Russell Tovey).

There’s no word yet on a UK air date yet, but the film is likely to be broadcast on Sky Atlantic, which was the show’s British home for its initial run between 2014-2015.

Looking: The Movie airs in the US on July 23 at 10pm on HBO.
