Joe Jonas says he’s been having fun in gay bars with Nick

By Will Stroude

It seems that Nick Jonas’ penchant for a big gay night out has been rubbing off on the rest of the Jonas clan, after older brother Joe revealed he’s been hitting the gay bars with his sibling in recent weeks.

Speaking to PrideSource, Joe admitted that the pair could have done more to acknowledge their gay fanbase during their clean-cut, purity-ring clad days in the Jonas Brothers, but that he was keen to make up for that now.

“I went to a gay club with Nick a few months ago – it was really fun!” the 26-year-old said, admitting that his first experience at a gay bar came after he misread a foreign sign during a trip to Europe.

“I’ve accidentally gone to gay clubs before! I think that’s happened to a few people. But, you know, it was cool. We went out with some of our friends who are gay. I just think we live in a world where obviously it’s not a big deal – it’s fine – and you can have fun wherever you go and make the best of it.”

He added he only realised it was a gay club after noticing he was “getting hit on by more men than you would usually get hit on by”.

Quizzed on Nick’s comments last year that the boys’ family band should have done more to acknowledge their gay fans, Joe continued: “Maybe it was just our age, but I would agree with Nick. We maybe didn’t reach out as much as we probably could have.

“I hope now we can encourage other straight guys to have a voice as well. I care too much about my friends who are gay and fans who are gay to be quiet about it.”

He added: “We would see gay fans here and there come to shows, and we were always very happy to say hi, and [be] loving. It always made us happy. And like, you’d see a sign or two (laughs) that would say something kind of funny. I can’t remember what they said off the top of my head – a lot of them were always making me laugh, and they were flattering too.”

Meanwhile, Nick recently induced several hundred litres of collective drool after failing to deny sexually experimenting with men – click here to find out more.
