Janet Jackson’s new album is coming, says producer
By Josh Haggis

Janet Jackson is apparently hard at work on a new album.
Engineer and vocal producer Ian Cross, who worked with the singer on her last album, 2008’s Discipline, has revealed that he has been back in the studio recently with Jackson, helping her with her follow-up.
“She asked me to work on an album with her called Discipline in 2007 and, again, just do the same thing, produce the vocals,” Cross told Barefoot Sound. “That led to her hiring me full-time to work with her. That’s where I’m at now.”
He went on to explain that recording the album has become something of a jet-setting experience.
“The Janet Jacksons of the world can’t just spend their time in one studio in one city anymore.” he said. “We’ve been working in Qatar. We’ve been working in Paris, the Middle East, and now we feel like we can work anywhere.”
When asked what fans can expect from the album, Cross replied: “We’re bringing in some of the best people on the planet to work on this record and it will be completely unexpected, [something] that nobody’s seen before.”
“I can’t go into too many details,” he continued, “but I think Jackson’s fans are going to be very excited about the new album, and I think people who don’t know her are going to be excited about it, too.”
However, Miss Jackson (If You’re Nasty) has since appeared to respond to Cross’s comments about her new album somewhat coolly. See her tweet below.
If there is a new project, you’ll hear it from my lips.

Jackson’s last album, Discipline, was released in 2008, and sold disappointingly despite debuting at Number One in the US. A Greatest Hits collection featuring a new track called Make Me came out the following year, but she has been absent from the charts since then.
