Jamala releases haunting new music video for ‘1944’ – WATCH

By Fabio Crispim

Jamala caused quite a stir at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest with her haunting song, 1944. But whether it was its political themes (1944 was about the Soviet Union’s historical deportation of Crimean people, if you didn’t know) or the fact that is was just a great tune, it took the singer to victory.

Now the singer’s returned to her Eurovision roots and has finally released a powerful new music video for the single which was directed by Anatoliy Sachivko and features Jamala at an abandoned military base.

You can check out the video below:

It seems as though her political streak extends beyond music too; she recently reached out to the Mayor of Kiev to ask him to keep LGBT people sage at a Pride march in the city.

And in the latest issue of Attitude, featuring Nyle DiMarco, the Eurovision winner reflects on life for Ukraine’s LGBT+ community as she looks ahead to next year’s competition.

Speaking about Ukraine hosting the competition next year, Jamala revealed that she’s excited because “it will be a great show” and reassures fans that she’ll be performing.
