actor Jack Falahee has defended the show’s controversial man-on-man sex scenes.

Executive producer Shonda Rhimes recently spoke out in defence of the racy scenes involving Falahee’s character, openly gay Law student Connor Walsh, arguing that the show has “no gay scenes, just scenes with people in them”. Read more here.

Now, in a new interview with attitude.co.uk, Falahee argues that his character’s sex scenes are integral to his storyline on the hit US TV show – and not included simply for shock value.

“I think that all of the sex scenes in the show are plot driven and/or character based,” explains the 25-year-old actor. “Connor is at times driven by his sexual appetite, like many people in this world. He just happens to be gay.”

During the interview, Falahee also insists that he had no reservations about playing an openly gay character on the show, saying: “I really didn’t think twice about playing a character that is gay. I was just excited to audition because [the show’s creator] Pete Nowalk wrote a compelling, smart, and engaging pilot with real, multi-faceted characters.”
