Is Sam Smith being lined up to sing the next Bond theme?

Sam Smith is reportedly being lined up to sing the next Bond theme.
The British soul singer is said to be Bond producers’ first choice to record the theme for the 24th film in the 007 series, which is scheduled for release next year, at a date yet to be announced.
Producers were reportedly considering asking Adele – who won an Oscar for her Skyfall theme tune – to write and record a second Bond song, but now believe that Smith has the “cool image” they’re looking for.
“Sam is our top choice. He has the profile, cool image and astonishing voice to record a Bond theme,” a “source” apparently told The Sun.
The so-called “source” continued: “There is only so long we can hold out for Adele. Daniel Craig was pushing for her because she did such a great job last time around. But from her perspective, how can she better what she did with Skyfall? She won an Oscar, Bafta, Golden Globe and had a global Number One.”
If Smith records the theme song for the upcoming film, it will make him the first British male artist to sing a Bond song since Tom Jones with Thunderball in 1965.
“Sam would be strong for our brand,” added the “source”. “It’s about time we had a British male singing the title track again. Sam’s range means he can really dish up passion, energy and excitement when the opening titles roll with the music.”
Smith’s debut album, In the Lonely Hour, was released in May and debuted at Number One in the UK and number two in the US. He has recently released his new music video, for I’m Not the Only One, which stars Glee actress Dianna Agron – click here to watch it.
Meanwhile, Leona Lewis recently filled in for Sam Smith at an awards show performance of La La La, the Number One hit he recorded with producer Naughty Boy. Watch Leona take on the song here.
