Congratulations are in order for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series star Larry Saperstein, who has come out publicly as bisexual.

The star plays Big Red on the Olivia Rodrigo-starring Disney+ series, which is a spin-off of the beloved 00s film franchise. (As the show’s ridiculous name suggests).

Larry made the revelation in decidedly understated style with a TikTok clip posted earlier today.

“Is it really that unexpected”

Over a video of himself, he wrote: “Plays a character with a girlfriend on TV, is bi irl.”

“Is it really that unexpected tho #pride,” he added in a caption.

The video has amassed 1.2m likes and 14.5k comments at the time of writing.

The 21-year-old also referenced the start of Pride month on 1 June, saying on Twitter: “I have T minus 30 days to figure out how to do drag so I can turn out a look before the end of the month (#HappyPrideMonth I love you ALL SO MUCH).”

Larry’s video follows comments from his HSM co-star Joshua Bassett last month, who said of Harry Styles: “He’s hot, you know? Very charming too. Lots of things. I guess this is also my coming out video.”

In a statement released the next day, Joshua said: “My entire life people have told me my sexuality. People have shamed me for things they know nothing about. I want to say thank you to those of you who stand for love and acceptance.”

He added: “It’s OK to still be figuring out who you are.”
