Harry Styles talks LGBT+ rights: “Everyone should be equal”

By Ross Semple

Harry Styles has spoken about his commitment to LGBT+ rights, saying he thinks “everyone should be equal”.

He made the comments during an interview with French TV show Quotidian, while promoting his debut solo album Harry Styles.

When the interviewer asked Harry about Brexit, the former One Direction star declined to answer, saying he doesn’t like to talk about politics in interviews.

The show’s host, Yann Barthès, retorted:”But you’re in favour of equality: men, woman, gay people, straight people … that’s politics.”

Harry disagreed with his assertion: “That doesn’t feel like politics to me,

“Stuff like equality feels much more fundamental. I feel like everyone should be equal. That doesn’t feel like politics to me.”

Harry is no stranger to public support for his LGBT+ fans. During a 2015 One Direction gig in New York he briefly walked around the stage holding a rainbow Pride flag.

The Buffalo date on the quartet’s On The Road Again Tour saw the handsome hitmaker showing his support for LGBT+ fans; echoing a similar move at a Vancouver show earlier that year.
