Happy birthday Rachel Stevens! 5 ways to honour this under-appreciated pop icon

By Rhys Matthews

We here at Attitude love a bit of old-school pop, but it comes with the acceptance that sometimes even our favourite stars fade can got without being paid their dues – until they emerge to do a big reunion with their old music mega-group, which then leads to them going on to become a coach on The Voice of Ireland, that is.

Today is a special day, when more than ever we should appreciate the ‘gone-too-soon’ solo career of one of most lovable sevenths of forever-timeless-pop-phenomenon S Club 7 – Rachel Stevens.

The original Nation’s Sweetheart turns 38 today! Here are a few things you could do today to celebrate

1) Watch the second part of her ‘My World’ documentary, where she blushes at saying the word ‘testicles’

2) Cook a healthy meal! Her most recent album was a concept piece about eating your vegetables

3) Wanna see Rachel do her thing? Listen to one of the best S Club songs of all time, where the lead vocal is all hers, and we see which member of the band truly ‘got the flow’

4) Listen to her timeless solo material! Frankly it’s a matter of national shame that it doesn’t continue to receive daily circulation British radio – her first album in particular was SO GOOD. #JusticeForFunkyDory

5) And if you can’t get enough, you can also search for her charity cover duet of the classic ‘The Greatest Love’ with Attitude favourite, Mr Duncan James from Blue. Cute.

Blam! Slam! Baby… That’s all. Thank you for the music, Rachel.
