Gay man surprises boyfriend with mariachi wedding proposal at Penn Station – WATCH

By Fabio Crispim

It’s been a rough couple of days recently what with the election results, homophobic attacks and much, much more.

But it’s not all bad, as shown by this gay couple who shared their recent proposal at Penn Station, where the pair first met.

On Thursday (November 10) Joey Grant Luther, a model from Wilhelmina Models proposed to his boyfriend Julio Nuno in the middle of New York’s busy Penn Station alongside a full mariachi band, according to OutBuzz.

“I proposed by getting his best friend to bring him to Penn Station to meet another friend,” Luther told OutBuzz.

“When we walked into Penn Station, I had a five-person Mariachi band playing hi favourite song and had him walking down the long staircase of the Penn Station rotunda. Then I got down on one knee and asked if he would marry me as we were both crying tears of joy.”

Luther explains that the whole station seemed to stop and watch the proposal.

“We had about 20 friends there to support us. And then the entire flow of Penn Station seemed to stop to take in this beautiful moment when there is so much darkness surrounding us right now.”

According to OutBuzz, the Mariachi band serenaded the couple with ‘El Milagro en Tus Ojos,’ which translates to ‘the miracle in your eye.’

Despite the proposal happening just days after the election, Luther explained that the results didn’t factor into his decision.

“The election didn’t influence our decision to get married. The proposal was planned already for today. But it took on a whole new meaning after the results of the election.”
