Gay DC superhero couple to return for new comic book series

By Fabio Crispim

DC’s gay superhero couple are returning this October for a new series.

According to The New York Times Apollo and Midnighter, who have an on-again-off-again relationship, are returning for a six-issue mini series.

The character made their debut in 1998 and the new series will follow on from the Midnighter solo series which ended last month and saw Midnighter splitting with his husband of 13 years and reconciling with Apollo.

Steve Orlando, who’s writing the series, said, “They have a firmer idea of who they are, and they’ve become stronger and more confident together.

Orlando said, “Getting to write a character that helped me when I was younger and boost the signal to a new generation has been an honour.”

He described the couple as “the World’s Finest” who make “each other better than they are on their own.”

The first issue of their new series will be released October 1.
