Gay Australian swimming drama ‘Barracuda’ is coming to BBC Three – WATCH

Hit Australian miniseries Barracuda will be made available to UK viewers through BBC Three, it has been announced.

Based on a novel by Christos Tsiolkas, the drama dives into the world of gay swimmers, following one particular Olympic hopeful as he comes to terms with his sexuality,

Set in Melbourne in 1996, the show deals with “identity, obsession, desire, the dizzy heights of success and the terrifying risk of failure”. 16-year-old Danny struggles to fit in after winning a scholarship to an exclusive boys school. But as his incredible swimming talents go from strength to strength, he is set on a path to become Australia’s youngest swimming champion, the unstoppable ‘Barracuda’.

The four-part series received positive reviews when it debuted in Australia earlier this year, and will be available to stream on BBC Three this winter.
