Former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ hunk Gleb Savchenko slams show for not having same-sex couples

Former Strictly Come Dancing star Gleb Savchenko has slammed the BBC reality show for not including same-sex couples.
The former Attitude cover star, who competed in the show’s 13th series with Anita Rani, slammed the show for being too “conservative” compared to its American counterpart Dancing With The Stars.
Speaking to The Sun, Savchenko said: “When I was on, if you have a crazy idea they’re like, ‘Let’s bring it down a little bit.’”
He revealed that producers of the reality series are “scared” to try new things, including same-sex dance couples.
“It should have been done a long time ago,” he explained. “I would love to see same-sex couples. It would be amazing, it would be huge entertainment. We have same-sex couples competing in real dance championships and they do it so well.
“To see the energy and the chemistry and the vibe in the rehearsal room of two guys – imagine you put Anton du Beke with a guy. I would really want to see that.”
When asked if he’d be happy when paired with another man, the Russian born 34-year-old said he would: “If he’s super cute and light and could dance, I would totally do it. We would kill it.
“I just need a good person who’s easy to work with and really wants to be in the competition, not just publicity. People will be like, ‘Oh my god, they’re so great together.’”
He added: “I’m very open-minded and I wouldn’t mind doing it. I don’t give a f*ck about what people think of me and what I do.”
The star also believes the show should reveal who won second and third place before slamming the series for not paying contestants enough.
Earlier this year, Britain’s Got Talent judges Amanda Holden and David Walliams also slammed the show for its lack of same-sex dance couples.
