By Attitude Magazine

*spoiler warning*

US zombie drama Fear The Walking Dead has surprised fans by revealing a gay romance involving one of the show’s main characters.

In the latest episode ‘Blood In The Streets’, the TV show reveals through flashbacks that the show’s enigmatic Victor Strand (Colman Domingo) was once involved in a secret relationship with Thomas Abigail (Dougray Scott), a wealthy businessman from Mexico.

In the show, Strand is a complicated character with a mysterious and unexplained background, while his considerable wealth has been unexplained thus-far. Now, people pondering on how Strand possessed all his earthly goods may have just found the answer.

While the plot represents the first gay romance on Fear the Walking Dead, the show’s original sister series The Walking Dead is no stranger to LGBT characters – the most recent of which being season six’s Paul ‘Jesus’ Monroe, played by British actor Tom Payne, who was introduced to viewers earlier this year.

The fan favourtie character’s introduction came despite the homophobic backlash from some quarters that surrounded the Ross Marquand’s character Aaron in season five, while the show has also featured prominent lesbian characters in the form of Tara Chambler (Alanna Masterson) and Denise (Merritt Wever).
