Everybody’s Talking About Jamie film trailer drops and it’s absolutely epic – watch it here

"Stop waiting for permission to be you".

By Jamie Tabberer

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, the film version of the hit West End musical, has dropped its new trailer.

And basically, it’s fair to say everybody will be talking about this film when it comes out in but a few months…

You can watch the trailer below.

The clip, which features a bleached blonde Max Harwood in the titular role, was uploaded to YouTube yesterday.

The story revolves around a drag-obsessed gay teen who must overcome school bullies and an unsupportive father to realise his dreams.

“I wanted a son so badly… and I got you”

It looks set to feature emotional drama both gritty and inspiring: in one scene, Jamie’s father says: “I wanted a son so badly and I got… you”, while in another, Jamie’s friend implores him: “Stop waiting for permission to be you.”

Inspired by the true story of Jamie Campbell, as captured in the 2011 BBC documentary Jamie: Drag Queen at 16, the original musical debuted in 2017.

The dragtastic film is due in February 2021 (Picture: YouTube)

RuPaul’s Drag Race icons Bianca Del Rio and Michelle Visage are just some of the talent who have performed in the show.

The movie version, meanwhile, will feature an all-star cast including Can You Ever Forgive Me? star Richard E. Grant, Catastrophe‘s Sharon Horgan and Coronation Street legend Sarah Lancashire.

We literally can’t wait.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is due for release on 26 February 2021. Check out the first trailer below:
