Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding sign up for roles in ‘Last Christmas’

The new movie is based around the George Michael festive anthem

Emilia Clarke and Henry Golding have signed up to join the Last Christmas – a film based around the George Michael Christmas hit.

Clarke is best known for her role in the HBO fantasy Game of Thrones and Golding has received rave reviews for his part in this summer’s comedy Crazy Rich Asians.

The new film will be written by Emma Thompson and Bryony Kimmings and directed by Bridesmaids director Paul Feig but the screenplay was in development with the former Wham! frontman until his shocking and untimely death on Christmas Day in 2016, the Hollywood Reporter reveal.

Allegedly the original script contained the kind of “queer politics” which Michael – who was found dead in his home by long-term boyfriend Fadi Fawaz – was interested in.

The film is said to be a ‘holiday romance set in London’, but at the time of reporting there is no information given on when shooting will begin or when the film will be released – but surely around Christmas time makes sense.

Not much else is known about the upcoming production but let’s hope the “queer politics” from the original script have made it across to the new one.
