Elton John-inspired Barbie hits the shelves – and she’s fabulous

WANT.

By Jamie Tabberer

Elton John has given his blessing to a Barbie doll inspired by his unique sense of style.

And we’re proud to say we desperately want one.

The figure is being released as a tribute to Elton’s dazzling career in music; his signature track Your Song is 50 years old this year.

“Glittery fashions, sparkling initials and vibrant rainbow details”

Alongside pictures of the Barbie rocking out on a teeny, tiny piano posted on the brand’s official Instagram account, a rep said: “Paying tribute to the Rocket Man himself, @eltonjohn!

“The Elton John Barbie doll celebrates rock ‘n’ roll royalty with glittery fashions, sparkling initials and vibrant rainbow details.”

“Barbie is an icon in her own right”

‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ singer Elton meanwhile addressed the news on his own Instagram account, saying: “Barbie is an icon in her own right, so having her pay tribute to my work and personal style is a real honour.

“I hope that she inspires fans everywhere to fearlessly pursue their own dreams and limitless potential.”

According to her Amazon page, Barbie’s “‘Elton’-embossed bomber jacket features star-printed sleeves and a rainbow-striped hem.”

The doll comes with a stand and a certificate of authenticity.

In 2017, noted LGBTQ-ally Barbie made headlines by coming out in support of marriage equality.
