Actor Jake Wood is to compete on the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Wood, who plays infamous womaniser Max Branning in EastEnders, is the eighth celebrity to be confirmed for the new series, which will begin next month (September) on BBC One.
“I’m really relishing the prospect of hitting the Strictly dance floor this year,” said Wood.
“I’m doing it for all the dads out there and you never know, there’s always a chance of being the first Walford resident to take home the Glitterball. Bring it on!”
Wood joins seven other celebrities confirmed for the show: Casualty actress Sunetra Sarker, Former TOWIE star Mark Wright, recent Attitude cover star Thom Evans, Blue singer Simon Webbe, The Saturdays’ Frankie Bridge, Andy Murray’s mum Judy Murray and This Morning’s Alison Hammond.
Several more celebrities will be announced before the series gets started next month – and according to a recent report, so-called “old duffers” have been banned by the BBC. Read the full story here.
