Drag Race queens reveal their Snatch Game characters in new preview

But who'll be snatching our wig?

By Will Stroude

With last week’s elimination of Nicky Doll and *that* incredible Untucked outburst from Heidi N Closet shutting down the other queens’ increasingly uncomfortable treatment of Aiden Zhane, it’s safe to say the gloves are off in RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12.

Perfect timing, then, for the show’s most famous challenge to make its entry.

Yep, Snatch Game is officially upon us, as the 10 remaining queens choose a celebrity to impersonate in the fill-in-the-blank contest.

It’s a challenge that can make or break a season’s supposed frontrunners, and in a new preview of this week’s episode – set to air in the US on Friday (3 April) and the following day in the UK – we get our first look at who some of the queens are lampooning.

Jaida Essence Hall is set to take on Cardi B – though given the series was filmed last year, we sadly won’t be getting Jaida’s take on the ‘Bodak Yellow’ rapper’s recent viral coronavirus speech.

Widow Von’Du reveals she’s planning to impersonate Tina Turner, though her suggestion that she might also switch between the ‘Proud Mary’ singer and her abusive ex-husband Ike Turner raises more than a few eyebrows.

‘Big in New York’ Brita tells the group she’s dressing up as original Dreamgirls star Jennifer Holliday, while arch-rival Aiden Zhane explains she’s adopting the persona of Northern Irish actress Patricia Quinn, who starred as Magenta in the original Rocky Horror Picture Show.

You’ll be shocked and surprised to know that Brita’s not convinced by the choice.

As for Crystal Methyd, Gigi Goode, Heidi N Closet, Jackie Cox, Jan and Sh***y P*e, you’ll have to wait until this week’s episode to find out which stars they’ll be attempting to snatch wigs as.

RuPaul’s Drag Race season 12 continues tonight (Friday 3 April) on VH1 in the US and this Saturday (4 April) on Netflix in the UK.
