Dolly Parton says gay dance album is still in the works

Country singer-songwriter and gay icon Dolly Parton has promised that she’ll released a dance album for the LGBT community, but that production is “on the shelf again” due to her touring commitments

In an interview with The Guardian, the country music legend said “every time I start to work on that [the dance album], something else comes up. But one day I promise you I will get that out”.

She also teased a potential song on the album, called ‘I’m a Wee Bit Gay’, describing the track as “a fun, tongue-in-cheek type of song” and promising that fans would one day get to hear it.

On her relationship with LGBT fans, the 9-5 and Jolene singer said “they know I’m a little different myself. I’ve fought for the right to be myself, so that is one of the reasons that the gays and lesbians relate to me”.

While the 70 year old did not join musicians such as Nick Jonas in boycotting North Carolina shows to protest the anti-trans “bathroom bill”, earlier this year she did offer a message of support to the LGBT community, saying ““I think everybody should be treated with respect.

I don’t judge people, and I try not to get too caught up in the controversy of things. I hope that everybody gets a chance to be who and what they are”.
