Diana Ross to play Glastonbury Festival 2015?

Diana Ross is reportedly in talks to perform at next year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The organisers of the Somerset bash are said to be hoping that the legendary diva can appeal to a wide variety of festival-goers, much like Dolly Parton, who sang to over 100,000 people at Glastonbury in June.

“Glastonbury bosses were thinking it was going to be impossible to top Dolly,” a ‘source’ apparently told The Sun.

“But now it looks like they will get Diana Ross, which will be incredible. It won’t be cheap but she’s worth every penny. She still tours around the world and puts on a fantastic show.”

Disco star Nile Rodgers, who worked with Ross on her 1980 album Diana – home to her iconic hits Upside Down and I’m Coming Out – told the newspaper that he thinks Ross would love to “feel the vibe” from festivalgoers.

“Diana is one of my greatest friends and she is an incredible performer,” Rodgers said. “I know she’d love to feel the vibe and the love from any festival audience.”

“Sure, she’s a diva,” he continued, referring to her notoriously fierce reputation. “But I absolutely love divas because they care and are passionate about what they do. I once saw her being told she was singing flat and she stormed out of the studio and went to France for two weeks — she says she doesn’t remember that happening.”

If Ross performs next year, she would be likely to take the so-called “Sunday afternoons legends slot”, which has been filled in recent years by the likes of Parton, Kenny Rogers and Shirley Bassey.
