‘Dexter’ star Michael C. Hall joins Broadway’s ‘Hedwig’

star Michael C. Hall will join the cast of Broadway’s Hedwig and the Angry Inch next month.

The actor will take over from Girls star Andrew Rannells on October 16, and will star in the lead role until January 4.

Rannells will make his final appearance as the trans singer on October 12 after eight weeks in the production.

Hall’s most recent Broadway stint came in last season’s The Realistic Joneses. He has previously appeared in musicals Cabaret in 2000 and Chicago in 2002.

Neil Patrick Harris was the first star to appear as Hedwig when the musical opened at Broadway’s Belasco Theatre earlier this year.

The show, a rock musical about a fictional band fronted by a trans singer from Germany, won four awards at this year’s Tonys, including Best Revival of a Musical and a Best Actor award for Neil Patrick Harris – read more here.
