Cyndi Lauper has praised 50 Cent for the “evolution” in his view towards the LGBT community.

50 Cent took part in the singer’s annual fundraiser, Cyndi Lauper & Friends: Home For The Holidays, which raises money for the singer’s charity True Colours Fund.

True Colours Fund has a particular focus the problem of homelessness among LGBT youth.

The 61-year-old shared the stage with 50 Cent at the New York City fundraiser on Saturday (December 6). The Candy Shop rapper has been criticised in the past for making anti-gay remarks, including saying that men over the age of 25 who “don’t eat pussy” should kill themselves.

Speaking to BuzzFeed after the event, Lauper said: “50, God bless him – he’s a good guy. People evolve. That is what you have to leave yourself open for. You change the world when you change your mind.”

Earlier this year, Lauper explained how her 1984 single She Bop was inspired by a gay porn magazine – read more here.
