The main Channel 4 series Cucumber will follow the lives of a group of gay men in Manchester and will run in conjunction with E4 series Banana, which will focus on the show’s younger characters.

President of MTV and Logo TV, Stephen Friedman, said: “Cucumber and Banana are groundbreaking for the way they show intertwined narratives from two generations’ different perspectives. Even more importantly, the shows tell hilarious, incisive and very human stories.”

Queer as Folk – also created by Davies – was remade in the US, and ran for five seasons between 2000 and 2005.

The first full trailer for Cucumber, Banana and online companion series Tofu was recently unveiled by Channel 4 – watch the preview here.

Actors appearing in Cucumber and Banana include Coronation Street‘s Julie Hesmondhalgh, The Riot Club’s Freddie Fox, In the Flesh star Luke Newberry, comedian Rufus Hound and attitude.co.uk contributor Andrew Hayden-Smith.
