Charlie Condou will star in the UK premiere of Broadway hit Next Fall later this year.

The former Coronation Street actor leads the cast of the production, which will run at the Southwark Playhouse from Wednesday, September 24 to Saturday, October 25.

Luke Sheppard is on board as director, following the success of his production of In Tte Heights earlier in 2014.

Next Fall follows Adam (Condou) and Luke (Martin Delaney), who make their relationship work despite disagreeing over the existence of God.

Viva Forever‘s Ben Cura, Nancy Crane and Mitchell Mullen also feature in the cast.

Condou described his character as “quite neurotic and a little lost”, adding: “Adam cannot let go of the fact that his partner who is perfect in so many ways has this belief in a higher power that he finds completely insane.

“When I read it, there was just something about it that I understood. What is great about this play is it asks a lot of interesting questions about what it is to be in a relationship, about commitment, about what faith means,” he explained.
