Cheryl has notched up a record-breaking fifth solo Number One.

The former Girls Aloud member’s new single, I Don’t Care, debuts at Number One on the Official Singles Chart today (November 9) following her performance on The X Factor results show last weekend (November 2).

Cheryl previously hit the top spot with her singles Fight for This Love in 2009, Promise This in 2010, Call My Name in 2012 and Crazy Stupid Love earlier this year, and has now overtaken Geri Halliwell and Rita Ora – who have four Number Ones apiece – to become the first British female solo artist to have scored five UK Number One hits.

Elsewhere on the chart, Ed Sheeran’s former Number One Thinking Out Loud drops to Number Two, while John Legend – who also performed on The X Factor last week – rises a massive 22 places to Number Four with All Of Me.

Over on the UK’s Official Albums Chart, Sheeran’s X blocks Calvin Harris from the top spot, forcing the Scottish producer to settle for a Number Two debut with his fourth album Motion.

Last week’s Number One album, Taylor Swift’s 1989, slides to Number Three, while Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour continues to occupy the Top Five, charting at Number Five this week.
