Charli XCX vows never to return to Uganda over anti-gay laws

Charli XCX has vowed never to return to Uganda because of the country’s anti-gay laws.
The singer – whose mother was born and raised in the country – described recent political decisions as “terrible” and “backwards”.
Speaking to Metro about her mother’s homeland, she said: “I have been to Uganda when I was younger. It was amazing, but I wouldn’t go there now because I am so anti a lot of the laws that have been passed there.
“It was really upsetting that that’s the road the government decided to go down. I’m never going back there. It’s a terrible, backwards decision.”

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni signed an anti-gay bill into law in February, but the law was later scrapped.
