Amid the controversy surrounding Scott Mills being axed by the BBC, Channel 4 has scrapped an upcoming episode of The Great British Bake Off franchise.

The former BBC Radio 2 DJ was set to swap the decks for oven mitts in series 9 of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer on 18 April.

Following the release of episode 1 in late March and episode 2 last week, Mills was part of the next round of celebrity bakers set to appear in the Bake Off tent.

“We’ve taken the decision not to air the final episode of the 2026 series” – Channel 4 scrapping the Bake Off episode featuring Scott Mills

In a statement obtained by Deadline, a spokesperson for Channel 4 said: “Having carefully considered the circumstances, we’ve taken the decision not to air the final episode of the 2026 series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer, featuring Scott Mills.”

“Acknowledging the seriousness of the accusations that have been made against Scott, we don’t believe it would be appropriate to air the episode at this time,” they continued.

Viewers are left wondering what will fill the bake-off hole, though, don’t panic, channel 4 confirmed an alternative Celebrity Bake Off episode will air in it’s place

Who was set to star in the final episode of Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer 2026?

Mills was set to star alongside the likes of singer Rag’n’Bone Man, broadcaster Edith Bowman and JLS member Aston Merrygold.

At the time, the 53-year-old radio presenter announced his stint after filming: “Honoured to be part of the new series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off for Stand Up To Cancer,” he wrote to Instagram.

Following Mills’s departure from presenting duties and TV appearances across multiple projects, such as the Race Across the World: The Detour podcast series, regular listeners are left wondering who will fill the radio presenter’s shoes.

Sara Cox has been announced to replace Mills for the BBC’s Eurovision Song Contest 2026, after the DJ had covered the event for more than a decade.

Why was Scott Mills terminated from the BBC?

Amid his termination from the BBC, Mills was questioned by police under caution as part of an investigation into alleged sexual offences involving a teenage boy under 16.

The allegations linked Mills to a Metropolitan Police investigation launched in December 2016 following a referral from another police force. No charges were brought following the investigation.

The BBC has since apologised for not taking any prior action against the former Radio 2 host. In a statement, they said: “We received a press query in 2025 which included limited information. This should have been followed up, and we should have asked further questions. We apologise for this and will look into why this did not happen.”

“The police investigation was closed seven years ago” – Scott Mills on the sexual offence case made against him

In a statement last week, Mills said: “An allegation was made against me in 2016 of a historic sexual offence which was the subject of a police investigation in which I fully cooperated and responded to in 2018.”

“As the police have stated, a file of evidence was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service, which determined that the evidential threshold had not been met to bring charges.

“Since the investigation related to an allegation that dates back nearly 30 years and the police investigation was closed seven years ago, I hope the public and the media will understand and respect my wish not to make any further public comment.”
