Call Me By Your Name’s Timothée Chalamet thanks Armie Hammer’s wife for letting him ‘crawl all over’ her husband

We all owe her one, tbh.

Timothee Chalamet and Armie Hammer provided the world with one of 2017’s most moving portrayals of gay love, and now it seems the cast of Call Me By Your Name are giving credit where it’s due.

Chalamet has received overwhelming praise for his role in the film, an adaptation of Andre Aciman’s 2007 novel of the same name which tells the story of the relationship between 17-year-old Elio (Chalamet) and graduate student Oliver (Armie Hammer) as a passionate romance blossoms in 1980s Italy.

The Call Me By Your Name star won the Rising Star award, alongside co-honoree Gal Gadot, at the 29th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Tuesday (January 2).

In his acceptance speech, Chalamet thanked co-star Armie Hammer and his wife Elizabeth Chambers for letting him “crawl” all over him, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Chalamet started the speech by thanking Wonder Woman’s Gal Gagot: “Gal, your film has literally made 250 times more money than my movie has. I’m left feeling a little insecure, unqualified to be up here but it’s okay.”

He then turned his attention to his co-star: “Armie, it’s a lot easier to be up here because you’re one of my best buddies. Seriously I’m grateful for your big brotherhood and your guidance and your friendship.

“To have someone in your position, and as talented as you are, be a mentor to me for the last two years is invaluable to me. I really mean it, man.”

He then turned to Hammer’s wife and said: “And special thanks to Armie’s wife, Elizabeth Chambers, who is here tonight, as well, who is as crucial to this process as anyone.

“And for letting me crawl all over your husband for two months. Thank you for that,” he added.

Call Me By Your Name has been critically praised and earned several nominations at this year’s Oscars. Meanwhile, director Luca Guadagnino revealed he’s considering turning the film into a series.
