‘Call Me By Your Name’ director to helm series about gay teen on an Italian army base
Cue the peach scenes!

Luca Guadagnino is helming a new series about a gay teenager who develops ‘an innocent romantic connection with an older solider’ on an Italian army base.
Best known for helming the Academy Award-winning Call Me By Your Name, Guadagnino – who is also set to be directing a sequel to the 2017 gay drama – is setting his sights on TV and will be working on a new HBO series.
Guadagnino will direct the first two episodes of the series, which is currently entitled We Are Who We Are, and follows two 14-year-old friends, Caitlin and Fraser, according to the Observer.
The description of the show reads: “Eventually he becomes close to Caitlin, and the two embark on a period of self-discovery over the golden summer.
“Their friends think that he and Caitlin are a couple, but Fraser is actually missing his friend from home, Mark, while also developing an innocent romantic connection with an older soldier named Jason…
“She and Fraser spend the summer figuring out themselves and each other through an intimate and complicated friendship.”
Guadagnino is co-writing the script along with Paolo Giordano and Francesca Manieri.
