Bristol Pride have announced the acts that’ll be performing at the city’s Pride Day festival later this month (July 12).

Boyband A1, who recently appeared on the second series of ITV2’s The Big Reunion, have been confirmed to perform, along with 90’s dance group Corona, best known for classic hit The Rhythm of the Night, which reached Number 2 on the Official UK Singles Chart back in 1994.

Freemasons will headline the official afterparty at Bristol’s 02 Academy, in a night which will bring together city club nights with performances from a host of DJs and special acts. DJ duo Freemasons are best known for producing hit remixes of tracks like Kelly Rowland’s Work, Beyoncé & Shakira’s Beautiful Liar and Whitney’s Million Dollar Bill.

With 46 acts confirmed to perform over the course of the day, performances will also come from the likes of Britain’s Got Talent contestants The Showbears, Five Star’s Denise Pearson and Kate Bush tribute act Cloudbusting. Drag Queens of London star Baga Chipz will also be making an appearance on the Cabaret Stage.

Organiser Daryn Carter said: “Last year saw our biggest year yet and we’ve got a really exciting week of events planned for Pride 2014 as well as an amazing line-up for Pride Day and Night.

“We have created something truly special – an exciting and credible festival using a range of events to champion and celebrate LGB&T talent and still delivering a festival which is donation entry.

“We hope to keep building on the success of Bristol Pride, creating an opportunity for people to celebrate and feel engaged while also making a stand against discrimination here in Bristol and around the world.”

Bristol Pride week takes place from July 3-13, with the Pride Day festival and parade set to take place on Saturday July 12. The parade will depart Queens Sqaure at 11am and the festival at Castle Park will feature 3 stages of entertainment as well as a host of stalls and family activities.

Entry to Pride Day at Castle Park will be by donation, but there will be a £5 day writband or a day and night pass for £15 that will include discounts for food stalls, reduced bar prices and reduced skate hire at the onsite roller disco.
