Belgian TV presenters get married to raise money for Red Nose Day

By Will Stroude

Two Belgian TV presenters decided to take their professional relationship to the next level last month after getting legally married as part of a bet, and raising thousands of Euros for charity in the process.

Jonas Van Geel, 31, and James Cooke, 32, who front talk show Jonas & Van Geel on Belgium’s VTM, initially promised to wed one another if their programme’s Facebook page recited over 200,000 ‘likes’ – more than double the amount they began with – reports Flair.

The likes came flooding in and after quickly hitting their target, the pair kept true to their word, tying the knot in Antwerp, Belgium last month (October 28). Dressed in matching whire suits with their initials embroidwered on the back, the pair even shared a post-‘I do’ kiss before signing the wedding register.

Seeing an opportunity to do some good with their unlikely nuptials, Jonas and James decided to invite 500 guests to the ceremony to help raise money for Belgium’s Red Nose Day. Charging their guests 12€ each for entry, the pair managed to raise over 6000€ for the charity by the day’s end.

The pair even created a home wedding video to commemorate their (life-long, surely?) marriage. We think they make quite the couple…
