The BBC has announced that the new series of Doctor Who will begin in August.
The series eight premiere – titled ‘Deep Breath’ – will air on August 23 in both the UK and the US.
The new series will be the first with Peter Capaldi as the Timelord, after Matt Smith’s Doctor regenerated into Capaldi’s Doctor in last year’s Christmas special.
Jenna Coleman will return for the new series as the Doctor’s assistant, Clara Oswald, while Frank Skinner, Hermione Norris, Ben Miller and Keeley Hawes have all been cast in guest roles.
In May, the BBC released a teaser trailer for the new series, featuring a brief glimpse of Capaldi in his new role as the Doctor – click here to watch it.
Meanwhile, it was revealed recently that British popstar Foxes will be making an appearance during the upcoming eighth series of the long-running BBC show.
