Azealia Banks dropped by UK festival over Zayn Malik remarks

By Fabio Crispim

British festival Born & Bred have dropped Azealia Banks after her racist and homphobic remarks aimed at Zayn Malik.

The festival made the decision to drop her weeks before the event and RINSE FM took to Twitter to confirm the news, Digital Spy reports.

“We have decided to cancel Azealia Banks’ headline appearance at Rinse | Born & Bred Festival. Rinse | Born & Bred Festival is a celebration of rave culture and has been created for EVERYONE.”

“We celebrate inclusivity and equality.”

The festival will take place inHaggerstone Park, Hackney on June 4-5.

In typical Azealia fashion, she immediately hit back at the newsm saying festival-goers “were only coming for me”.

Writing on Twitter, Azealia said: “Most of the people coming to this on my day were only coming for me.”

She later apologized to her fans who had bought tickets to see her perform, writing, “To all my darling UK fans who bought tickets to see me at the Rinse FM show. My sincerest apologies!”

During the 212 singer’s original tirade, she branded Malik and his mother “refugees”, accused the half-Pakistani former One Direction star of “eating sand” and “sucking dick”, as well as claiming that Lady Gaga “is over” and that Rihanna has been “f**ked in every hole.”

It’s been over 18 hours now and the Banks shows no signs of logging off the social media site. We can only hope she decides to take a break to eat or sleep soon…
