Attitude presents Katherine Jenkins’ Musical Theatre Night live on Facebook

Now this is how you do a big gay Saturday night in lockdown.

By Will Stroude

After taking the Attitude Awards by storm last October with a beautiful and haunting cover of Judy Garland’s ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’, the lovely Katherine Jenkins OBE presents – in association with Attitude – the latest in her series of free-to-air concerts this coming Saturday (18 April) from 6pm on Attitude’s Facebook page.

And the Welsh mezzo-soprano classical crossover singer knows her audience – the theme for her Attitude-partnered set is ‘Kath’s Musical Theatre Night’, featuring songs from your favourite shows.

Call us stereotypical, but we can smell the greasepaint, see the lights and have jazz hands at the ready. There’s a little bit of Broadway in all of us. Whoever he was.

Currently riding high at number one on iTunes, her We’ll Meet Again duet with Dame Vera Lynn to benefit the NHS having captured a moment in the nation’s hearts, Katherine – a longstanding LGBTQ ally and supporter – is promising “a show to lift the spirits of those home alone, or missing friends and family.”

“It’s about having a big night out, but staying in,” she says. “So grab a glass of wine or your chosen tipple, and come and share the experience with me and your mates.

“And I warn you,” she confides, “be prepared – I’m going to be wearing my BIGGEST gown. I suggest you do the same…”

Maybe bring a tissue, too, we’ve been tipped off that a reprise of the ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ triumph we saw at the Camden Roundhouse last autumn has made the set list. You won’t want to miss it…

Kath’s Musical Theatre Night streams our live on Attitude’s Facebook page on Saturday 18 April from 6pm.
