Armie Hammer explains his thirsty aubergine comment on Timothée Chalamet’s selfie

"People got so excited..."

By Jamie Tabberer

Armie Hammer has spoken about the extremely thirsty comment he left on a selfie of Timothée Chalamet’s the other day.

The actor left the remark on his Call Me By Your Name co-star’s Instagram post on Wednesday (14 October).

Beneath a pic of Timothée in a cap, Armie wrote: “”OoOOOoOoooo KING SHIT!!!”

He then posted a series of aubergine and fire emojis.

“I was actually making fun”

The star probably didn’t anticipate being asked about the post in a new interview with Variety this week.

According to the publication, Hammer said the comment was written ‘in jest.’

“People got so excited,” he said. “I don’t think they realized I was actually making fun of how ridiculous people sound on the internet now.”

The star also made some very inconclusive comments to the publication about the possibility of a CMBYN sequel, saying: “I still haven’t seen a script. I don’t know if there is a script and they’re just not giving it to me or if there isn’t a script.”

Armie will next be seen in the Netflix movie Rebecca alongside Lily James, out on 21 October 2020.
